Questions & Answers

Email your Martial Arts related questions to Sensei and I will post them here.

Q. Are there any books that you would recommend for Jujitsu or Pressure Points?

A. For Jujitsu I recommend Wally Jay's book on Small Circle Jujitsu, this is filled with great material you will practice frequently in our Dojo.

A. I also recommend Gene Labbelle's Book of Finishing Holds. Homepage
A. For Pressure Points there is only one source that I recommend, George Dillman has several Books on the subject ranging from a book that a child could read, to others that are more in depth on Pressure Points.  Homepage
Q. Sensei, how long will it take me to become a Black Belt.
(NOTE) This is a question I hear frequently. Usually it comes from potential students as apposed to students that are currently studying with me. I think the reason for this is that most people that have not studied Martial Arts before see only the goal and not the Journey. In fact, when you finally do reach the Black Belt ranks you will find that there is more to learn than you ever thought there would be.

A. To answer the question now, there are many different variables to take into account. Have you studied Martial Arts before (this could help if you have already learned certain techniques, we will only need to refine them to our way)? How quickly you pick it up. How often you attend classes (this is a big one). Which art you are studying etc... Many variables are taken into account from one student to another, but a window of possibility is somewhere between 3 & 6 years.
